Why Fabulous Foragers?

This community is focused on gaining health through knowledge. Looking at anthropology, agriculture, and nutrition research can help us learn about how our own bodies work. If you want to discuss animal rights or raw gurus... hey those are very interesting, but this forum is about the science of health. The shortcomings of modern science are recognized, but hey, science is much more reliable than some anecdotes from a "guru."

I know it's a cop-out, but I live within 15 minutes walking distance from one of these hoity-toity groceries, and they have Grass Fed Beef now! http://www.wegmans.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/PressReleaseDetailView?langId=-1&storeId=10052&catalogId=10002&productId=665623

And it's cheaper than the farm I…

Feeling really good!

So, those of you who've known me awhile know that I've been healing chronic adrenal fatigue/endocrine issues. I definitely had improvements after adopting a higher fat/lower carb Primal-type diet.
Well, lately, I've been feeling almost completely normal/better! I think I'm feeling the cumulative effects of diet, sunshine (ahhhh, summer!) and- this is the biggie- QIGONG!

I've committed to a 90-day qigong every day pact with my friend and it's been one month. I can…

My sis and I just started a blog where we are posting about food and our Primal journeys. There will probably be a LOT of food and recipe posts, since we both love to cook (and eat!) as well as some geeky stuff (I can't help myself!)

Here is is:

Jet Lag Remedies

In about one month's time I'm going to making my first visit to America!! Anyone know any good remedies for jet lag?  I heard David Wolfe say being grounded and sungazing sorts it right out.

I may be too late for this discussion, but option 1 or 2 would be fine for me. The only reason I stopped contributing is I never get any updates from this site so sometimes forget to check on what's going on here . This is a very nice, forum,…

although there is not a direct contraindication for moxibustion in summer, my teacher never let us moxa during that time! generally if you don't have an internal cold condition you generally don't want to moxa during summertime.

Hey Mark, Bikram can deplete you if you sort of already tend to be depleted since you sweat so much. excessive sweating in TCM depletes qi. i think you're vata constitution. if you want to build qi there's nothing better than tai chi or qi…

Initially I got a lot of benefits from this type of yoga. Improved my flexibility and stamina very quickly and cleansed the lymphatic system. I soon reached a point where I was burnt out. Felt really stressed and burnt out and unusually irritable.…

She could try a few spoonfuls of raw apple cider vinegar (I like Eden brand) in water before meals. This will help her glycemic response and it may also help her digestive problems. It's cheap and easy to try.

Need Some Serious Advise For My Mom

She's 66, a diabetic, very overweight still eats BAD and is under a lot of stress. She has what she described as "the runs" constantly and feels edgy and weak. I know I can't make her eat healthy. I want to help her but don't know how. I'm helping by listening and offering emotional support but the stomach and digestive problems are worrying me. Does anyone know of any of these magic tonics that might help her?See More
